Editorial & Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Language Education (JoLE) undergo a rigorous editorial and peer review process to ensure academic quality and integrity.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
The Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor conducts an initial screening to evaluate:
-
Relevance to the journal’s scope
-
Originality and contribution
-
Compliance with author guidelines
-
Similarity check (plagiarism screening)
Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria will be rejected without external review.
2. Double-Blind Peer Review
JoLE applies a double-blind peer review process, in which:
-
Authors do not know the identity of reviewers
-
Reviewers do not know the identity of authors
Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who are not members of the editorial board and have relevant expertise in the field.
3. Review Criteria
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:
-
Originality
-
Methodological rigor
-
Theoretical contribution
-
Clarity of analysis
-
Relevance to language education
4. Review Timeline
The peer review process typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability.
5. Editorial Decision
Based on reviewer reports, the Editor-in-Chief makes one of the following decisions:
-
Accept
-
Minor Revision
-
Major Revision
-
Reject
Final decisions are made solely by the editorial board.
